FROM KENYA WITH LOVE THIS CHRISTMAS

No matter where you find yourself this festive season, The Safari Collection would like to wish you a very happy holiday and a prosperous New Year.
Christmas with The Safari Collection is not your normal holiday celebration. When enjoying a Kenyan Christmas, you are able to pack away your woolly Christmas jumper for another year and pull out your shorts, T-shirts and sun cream! This year, we will replace classic cliché carols with the magnificent singing Samburu and swop bristling fir trees for prickly whistling thorn acacias. At all of our lodges and camps, it is always possible to enjoy the Christmassy traditional treats – but with an unusual African twist!

Although Christmas time in many places around the world conjures up images of snow and cold, it is actually summer time here, with warm to hot days and cool, pleasant evenings. By the middle of December the rains usually finish and landscapes are often looking green and revitalised, under clear blue skies. The wildlife viewing at this time of year is great too!

This year at Giraffe Manor, we will be kissing Jock, Eddie or Kelly (our giraffe) under the mistletoe. At Sala’s, our Masai Mara lodge our guests will be up at the crack of dawn in search of the famous Sala’s pride roaming the acacia spotted savannah. It’s a nativity of a different kind at Solio Lodge, where lots of baby white and black rhino shelter amongst the yellow fever trees. At Sasaab, we hope that the elephant will join us for a Christmas drink from the flowing Ewaso Nyiro river.
