Day 1: Giraffe Manor

Program

IMG_4881.jpg

We will pick you up from Jomo Kenya International airport and bring you to the leafy suburbs of Langata where Giraffe Manor is located. On arrival you will be taken to Giraffe Manor in time for a three course lunch.

Site

Giraffe Manor is set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of an indigenous forest and only 20 kilometres from Nairobi city centre.

Accommodation

Using 1930s grandeur, Giraffe Manor is an exclusive boutique hotel reminiscent of the early days of Europeans in East Africa. Ten en suite bedrooms with contemporary touches as well as attention to detail offer a remarkable stay.

Experience

The sanctuary surrounding the manor is home to Rothschild Giraffes who frequently visit the hotel in order to assess any newcomers. Our large veranda and terrace allow our guests the opportunity to get very close to these animals and to feed them by hand. The giraffes are completely wild, making this an experience unlike any other in the world. We invite you to enjoy a walk in the sanctuary and visit the Giraffe Centre located within the Manor grounds. Or you could take a trip to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and see orphaned elephants and rhinos. You could also visit the Karen Blixen Museum or purchase gifts to take home from our diverse local designers and artisans.

 Day 2, 3 & 4: Sala's Camp - Masai Mara

Program

After breakfast you will be driven to Wilson Airport to catch your flight to the Masai Mara and then head straight to Sala’s Camp, with a small game drive en-route.

Site

Sala’s Camp is situated in the relatively unvisited southern area of the Mara, very near the border of the Serengeti in Tanzania. It is here that the great herds of wildebeest first migrate into Kenya at the begining of July each year in search of better grazing.

Accommodation

The camp offers a traditional safari-under-canvas experience. Having started as a mobile safari operation, the true sense of an opulent mobile safari operation still exists in the camp, and offers a taste of early pioneering days. Each of the tents are spacious, with olive wood beds and en suite canvas bathrooms that have running water, flushing toilets and hot showers, and outside each tent is a private hammock perfect for relaxing and afternoon siestas.

Experience

Explore the Masai Mara on our spectacular game drives arranged early in the morning and late in the evening when the animals are most active. Or book a bush lunch, take some binoculars and go further afield to find the wildlife in some of the most remote corners of the Masai Mara. Play volleyball in the river bed or just relax and enjoy the view from the hammock outside your tents. We can also arrange an evening drive accompanied by sundowners, a nice way to end the day.

Day 5, 6 & 7: Olakira Camp - Southern Serengeti

Program

After breakfast you will be driven to Keekorok airstrip where you will fly to Wilson Airport to catch your connecting flight to Kilimanjaro and then onward flight to Ndutu.

Site

Olakira is an intimate mobile safari camp made up of 8 spacious and comfortable tents. Each tent features a king size bed, en suite bathroom and private veranda with a stunning view over the Serengeti. The camp moves twice a year between carefully chosen campsites, allowing for superb game viewing at all times.

Meaning “star” in Swahili, Olakira Camp aims to deliver an intimate and authentic safari experience.

 Experience

The movements of the annual Great Migration in the Serengeti National Park can be split into two key areas: The river crossings in the north and the birthing season in the south. Olakira Camp is a migratory camp specifically designed to follow these yearly events. Each year it moves from the Mara River to Ndutu, following the herds and ensuring an excellent game viewing experience.

Day 8, 9 & 10: Dunia Camp, South Central Serengeti

After a leisurely breakfast in camp you will game drive to Dunia Camp which takes approximately two hours in time for lunch in camp.

Site

Dunia is a small, semi-permanent camp tucked away in a private location amongst the Moru Kopjes. Strategically placed, it allows access to some of the best game viewing areas available in the Serengeti. Each of the 8 spacious tents features an en- suite bathroom and private veranda overlooking the kopjes.

Experience

Nestled between the prime wildlife areas of central and southern Serengeti, Dunia Camp combines elements of style and luxury with an incredible wildlife experience. The Great Migration passes through this area that is especially known for its abundance of lion, leopard and cheetah and the rare chance it offers to see the illustrious black rhino. The secluded setting in the Moru Kopjes is a retreat of tranquillity in the most scenic part of the Serengeti.
