Majestically situated on the high banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River (Kenya’s third largest watercourse), Sasaab commands breathtaking views across the arid landscape of the Northern Frontier District towards the jagged peak of Mt Kenya, and offers a truly exceptional safari experience in an area renowned for its variant species.
Sasaab’s design is based on strong Moroccan principles, in which African heat is a central consideration. Each room is over 100m² in area allowing for enormous open air bathrooms and huge comfortable beds. Couple this with expansive views and a cooling plunge pool, and you have the perfect formula.

Sasaab is located within the Westgate Community Conservancy in Samburu in the northern part of Kenya.
By Air:
Local scheduled airlines fly to Samburu daily. It is also possible to charter private planes from Nairobi or Nanyuki.By Road:

Community Projects
Schools in the Westgate Area have benefited from funds generated by guests at Sasaab and been provided with new desks, cupboards for books and art supplies, posters and learning materials, art supplies and over two hundred curriculum books required.Women's Community Projects
The women in the Westgate Community Conservancy live in a traditional hierarchical structure in which they are restricted from becoming involved in any significant employment. Sasaab has helped to register three women's groups. Each of these groups makes bracelets and beaded bottle covers which are used in the lodge and sold in the gift shop.Community Health
Sasaab works with the Westgate Community health care workers to identify areas of need and plan community health programmes.Ewaso Lions
Lion conservation has become a major concern with a species population reduction of 30-50% over the past twenty years. Research is being carried out by Shivani Bhalla from her base at Sasaab. Click here to read her blog.
