Close to Solio Lodge in the village of Honi, we have completely rebuilt the Charles Wickham Honi Primary School where 350 children are studying intently for their futures to become Kenya’s next set of conservation heroes. Formerly, the school was in a terrible condition with students exposed to wind, rain and cold in their classrooms, resulting in poor exam performance and high drop out rates.  The rebuild has included eight classrooms, one dining hall which doubles as a community centre, a staff room, an office block and a new kitchen. New furniture and teaching equipment have also been provided as well as completely new textbooks for each pupil in the school.

The hugely improved school has become a focus of community life in the local area, holding meetings and sports events. Members of the community have been able to directly see the link between wildlife conservation and improving their own lives. We continue our fundraising to provide the 350 children with the best possible education.
