PACK FOR A PURPOSE

Many of our wonderful guests ask if they can bring out items to donate to schools or villages on their visit. The answer is YES. Here is a list of suggested items:

  • General school supplies – exercise books, pencils, pens, chalk

  • Story books for ages 3 to 18

  • Reference books of East African animals and birds, dictionaries, encyclopaedias

  • Wall charts and world maps

  • Educational games and puzzles

  • Arts and crafts materials

  • Sanitary pads

  • Sports/outdoor activity equipment – footballs, netballs, rugby balls, pumps, jump ropes, team kits

  • Second-hand school shoes or sports shoes

Rather than bringing supplies with you we encourage you to make a donation instead. This not only helps to save on airline weight limits, it also contributes to the local economy and ensures that people receive exactly what they need.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

If you would like to donate items to schools or villages, The Safari Collection will speak to the headteacher or administrator of a local school or village close to the property you will be visiting to see what their current needs are. We will then purchase the items on your behalf in the local market, this will generally be books on the Kenyan school curriculum or reusable sanitary pad kits. These items will be ready when you arrive at the property, so you will still be able to donate them in person.

USA donations can be made through a tax deductible 501 (3) (c) status.
UK donations can be tax deductible through registered charity status.
100% of all donations are used towards community and conservation projects, there are no hidden costs or expenses deducted.
