GIRAFFE MANOR IN NEW BBC SERIES

Grab your popcorn and pellets! Giraffe Manor, flagship property of The Safari Collection’s portfolio of luxury Kenyan properties, is pleased to be featuring in BBC Two’s new series, ‘Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby’.

Join us as we host journalist Giles Coren and chef Monica Galetti as they venture behind-the-scenes of Kenya’s most iconic property where wildlife conservation combines with top-tier accommodation and service to offer guests the ultimate in interactive, adventurous luxury.

This third episode of BBC Two’s new series will see hosts Coren & Galetti experience the thrill of dining alongside the Rothschild species of giraffe, as well as explore the logistics and challenges of operating such a unique property. Follow the cameras and crew as they tag along with the manor staff and discover what it takes to provide such an immersive and exceptional experience to a never-ending stream of awe-struck visitors, all of whom have expectations as high as the giraffes can reach.

Viewers will also enjoy interviews with property owners, Mikey & Tanya Carr-Hartley, whose ethos of sustainable and educational tourism is a common thread running through the company they have lovingly built to share and showcase the best of Kenya’s wildlife, flora, fauna, & culture.

“It’s important to us that tourism benefits not only the traveler but the environment and people with whom that traveler will interact,” says Mikey Carr-Hartley. “Giraffe Manor allows us to highlight the precarious plight of Africa’s giraffe population whilst providing guests with an authentically unique experience. Our other three properties – Sasaab in the Samburu, our Masai Mara lodge called Sala’s Camp and Solio Lodge in Laikipia– also offer amazing experiential opportunities whilst delivering genuine, quantifiable value to the communities and wildlife where we operate.”

The hour-long episode will also feature a visit to one of Giraffe Manor’s sister properties, Sasaab, in the northern frontier district of Kenya where the colourfully-adorned Samburu tribespeople reside in this most rugged and raw of wilderness regions. The Safari Collection is deeply involved in providing health, education and conservation initiatives to the local Samburu communities from which Sasaab also employs the majority of its staff – a formula which proved compelling enough for BBC to also include in their new 6-episode production.

In all, the BBC crew spent a total of 4 weeks gathering footage for the episode in which Giraffe Manor will feature prominently, lending the production an unprecedented insight to the trials and tribulations of operating the inimitable boutique property with a high daily turnover.

The Safari Collection (TSC) is also an East Africa specialist tour operator that creates bespoke itineraries to suit our guests’ requirements. Whether for a family with children, a honeymoon couple, a retirement treat or an employee incentive trip, TSC organizes tailor-made safaris for a wide variety of travelers and is renowned for creating experiences that are guaranteed to enlighten, excite, educate & elevate.

‘Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby’ featuring Giraffe Manor will air on BBC Two at 9pm GMT on April 10th, 2017. To watch the episode after it has aired please visit BBC iplayer.
