GIRAFFES GALORE… AND SO MUCH MORE!
Across the globe our bucket list hotel Giraffe Manor conjures up lifelong dreams to feed, kiss, stroke and sometimes (if your lucky) hug one of our precious Rothschild giraffe.
Daisy, Eddie, Jock, Kelly and Helen love to reach their long necks into our bedroom windows waking you up at the crack of dawn demanding treats.
Breakfast is the highlight of the giraffe action as they vie for your attention at the breakfast table. They long for the constant feeding of tasty pellets even as you try to munch on our yummy breakfast spread offering pancakes, bacon, eggs, homemade muesli and juicy fruit.
Giraffe aside there is so much to experience and enjoy during your stay at Giraffe Manor! The house alone is a spectacle swathed in a fascinating history. Take a stroll through our well-manicured garden spotting unexpected, greedy warthogs that are always on a mission to steal our giraffe treats.
Don’t forget teatime at Giraffe Manor! Relax on the front lawn as you are served a quintessentially English tea. Here you can gobble cucumber sandwiches, homemade scones and cakes, fresh strawberries and a cream tea fit for a king! As you tuck into your Victoria sponge the rattling of pellets can only mean one thing… giraffe incoming! Now it’s time for the famous giraffe kiss; as our long legged friends dwarf you let them pluck a pellet from your lips! Or, for the less brave, just place the pellets on the palm of your hand for them to scoop up with their long tongue!
Head beyond the lawn into the yellow acacia forest on the look out for the elusive bushbuck! Pop next door to the AFEW Giraffe Centre and learn more about the endangered species you have come to visit. In such an idyllic setting why not dabble in a bit of croquet and boules.
Snuggle up inside next to the fire and sip on a zingy dawa whilst settling down for a game of chess.
If you are feeling creative head to the orchid house and make use of our easel, canvas and paints. Later, for those craving romance, the orchid house is transformed into the most extraordinary and unusual dining experience. There are not many places in the world where you can enjoy a delicious gourmet supper in the company of a rare selection of sweet smelling orchids bathed in candlelight.
In the corner of the garden is our treatment room disguised as a potting shed. Relax and enjoy our variety of massage or beauty treatments.
All of this without stepping out of our giraffe haven! If there is time, make the most of our free transfers throughout Karen where there is so much to do beyond the manor such as adopting a baby elephant, heading to the Karen Blixen Museum and enjoying a bit of retail theory to name a few.
