TEAMTalk is an innovative project which combines sport and education to encourage the empowerment of girls and young women – boys too, but mostly girls! The project specifically focuses on improving health and sexual education. Within some Kenyan cultures, female oppression, circumcision and early marriage are ingrained, often leaving girls without the educational opportunities of their male peers. Girls and women who are educated are far more likely to marry later and have smaller, healthier families.

The Safari Collection has partnered with Exploring Global Health Opportunities (EGHO) and The Tag Rugby Trust  to bring this project to the communities around Sasaab, Solio Lodge and Sala’s Camp. The use of sport, in this instance TAG rugby, encourages interaction between boys and girls, as well as building confidence, self-awareness and esteem. This in turn helps them to be more receptive to the discussions and workshops that comprise the educational element of TEAMTalk.

The Safari Collection also partners with Marie Stopes Kenya to offer annual family planning clinics to the communities surrounding each of its lodges.
