The annual ‘World’s Best 50’ awards are voted for by Travel & Leisure’s readers and are highly respected within the travel industry. The award reflects the hotel’s personal approach, family run ethos and strong ethical principles that are central to all four Safari Collection properties.

Tanya and Mikey Carr Hartley, owners of The Safari Collection said; ‘We are delighted that Giraffe Manor has been recognised by Travel & Leisure’s readers as the best family hotel in Africa & Middle East. Our team is passionate about ensuring families have a stress-free and memorable experience when they stay with us. We organize exciting itineraries of family-friendly activities for our guests, including a number of local Kenyan attractions. The highlight of course for everyone’s stay is always meal time when families come together to feed the resident giraffes from their window!’

Owned by Kenyans Tanya and Mikey Carr-Hartley, Giraffe Manor is located on the outskirts of Nairobi and is home to a sanctuary for the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. The boutique hotel is one of Nairobi’s most iconic buildings dating back to the 1930s and is reminiscent of the early days of Europeans in East Africa. The herd of Rothschild Giraffe greet guests in the mornings and evenings, thrilling both adults and children as they poke their long necks through the windows searching for snacks before venturing out in their sanctuary.

With its informal atmosphere and ten beautifully appointed rooms, each with their own distinct personality, Giraffe Manor is one of the most popular places to stay in the country.
