BOOKING POLICY

With honesty, flexibility and understanding we can help you to plan the trip of a lifetime.

We are delighted to be able to offer the ultimate escape which is ideally suited to our new world of travel: a remote safari to the soothing sanctuary of Africa’s wild spaces. A safari is, by its very nature, the ideal socially distanced vacation. Experience a journey that will connect all your senses to the natural world, healing body and soul along the way.

We’ve done our best to ensure that you can plan your safari with complete confidence through our flexible booking terms. These are as follows:

New bookings for travel completed between January 2024 to 31st December 2024 have the following terms and conditions:

  • More than 120 days before arrival, the 30% deposit is refunded, net of bank/payment transaction/currency exchange charges and an admin fee of 5% of the booking value.
  • Between 120 and 46 days prior to arrival, the 30% deposit is forfeited.
  • Between 45 days and 30 days, 50% of the full value of your trip is forfeited, the balance will be net of bank/payment transaction/currency exchange charges.
  • Less than 30 days, and no shows, 100% is forfeited.
  • No refund will be given for guests who join a tour but leave before its completion.

In order to be valid, cancellations must be made in writing via email to info@thesafaricollection.com and receipt of the cancellation must also be confirmed in writing by The Safari Collection.

FORCE MAJEURE
Where a force majeure event occurs which renders a tour impossible, illegal, or inadvisable, a guest may be entitled to cancellation of their booking, subject to the following terms:

  • More than 120 days before arrival, the 30% deposit is refunded, net of bank/payment transaction/currency exchange charges and an admin fee of 5% of the booking value. The Safari Collection will request the guest to consider acceptance of a non-refundable credit note valid for 24 months from the date of issue, acceptance of which will be at the guest’s discretion.
  • Between 120 and 46 days prior to arrival, the 30% deposit will be held in the form of a non-refundable credit note valid for 24 months from the date of issue. Any further balance to be refunded will be net of bank/payment transaction/currency exchange charges.
  • Between 45 days and 30 days, 50% of the full value will be held in the form of a non-refundable credit note valid for 24 months from the date of issue. Any further balance to be refunded will be net of bank/payment transaction/currency exchange charges.
  • Less than 30 days, and no shows, or leaving a tour before completion – 100% is forfeited, BUT The Safari Collection will supply the guest with a non-refundable credit note with a validity of 24 months that can be used against a future booking.

The specific terms and conditions of all travel credits will be outlined in the travel credit note issued. Cash refunds will be processed as quickly as possible, but please note they will be prioritised in order of date of travel and not by cancellation date.

Always check the booking terms and conditions on your quotation documentation and booking form at the time of booking, (or if you are one of our agent partners, the contracted terms you have signed). These are the terms and conditions that you are agreeing to. This web page is meant as a general reference point, but any specific enquiries must be addressed directly with our team at info@thesafaricollection.com – we are always here to help.

Please be assured that your pre-payments are safely stored in our pre-payment account and do not get processed until just before travel. If you would like to see our full booking terms and conditions, please email us on info@thesafaricollection.com or click here.

PREPARING TO TRAVEL

GETTING TO KENYA

Arrivals and Departures

To put your mind at ease, we’d like to let you know what to expect as you embark on your journey to Kenya. From essential documentation before you go, to touchdown in Kenya and getting to our lodges, we’ve got you covered every step of the way for a seamless safari experience.

Prior to Departure

As of January 2024, entry visas into Kenya have been replaced with electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). This is a semi-automated system that grants permission to travel to Kenya from the Kenyan Government. All travellers, including children, must apply for the Kenya eTA at a cost of US$ 30 prior to travel and will be required to show proof of this during the check-in and boarding process.

The following documents are required for the eTA application: a valid passport; a recent passport picture or selfie taken during the application process; contact details; travel information/flight details; proof of hotel booking or letter of invitation if staying with friends; credit/debit card for payment. Yellow fever vaccination certificate will be required only if entering from an endemic country (please check the WHO website for the updated list of countries).

Applications can be submitted a minimum of 3 days prior to travel or up to 3 months in advance. We recommend applying as soon as you have made your final payment with us 45 days prior to travel. Please apply through the official website only: www.etakenya.go.ke where more information can be found.

Please ensure you have travel insurance for your safari and check that your health provider covers you for any health-related hospital admission, whilst in Kenya.

Health Requirements

A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required ONLY if you are arriving from or have transited through a yellow fever endemic country.

Anti-malaria medication is recommended for travel to all areas of Kenya except the highland regions (>2,500m). The malaria risk in the city of Nairobi is very low. We recommend Malarone as a malaria prophylactic, but we strongly urge you to seek expert advice from your doctor as to which medication is best for you. Rest assured that our experience of clients contracting malaria is EXTREMELY rare.

Please bring an ample supply of insect repellent to avoid mosquito bites.

The Centre for Disease Control recommends that travellers to Kenya have up-to-date vaccines for tetanus, hepatitis B and polio, as well as considering a meningitis vaccine, but please check the latest advice in your own country.

LODGE & CAMP OPERATIONS

Your home is your home, even in the wilds.

~African Proverb

Going on safari is by its very nature an outdoor activity where space and fresh air are in abundance. Each of our properties naturally lends itself to seclusion, outdoor dining (often in the bush!) and spacious grounds. Physical distancing comes easily and spending time away from crowds forms part of the magic of safari.

Each of our properties follows stringent safety procedures in every aspect of how they operate. Every team member prioritises the wellbeing of our guests and you can rest assured that they have each completed proper hygiene training. Sanitiser and hand washing stations are positioned throughout camps and lodges.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like further support. To the best of our knowledge, the information on this page is correct, but we cannot be held liable for any inaccuracies.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

MAKE TRAVEL COUNT

What footprints will you leave behind?

Your footprint is more important now than ever. Sustainable travel plays a vital role in protecting our planet for future generations. Fragile ecosystems, vulnerable wildlife, and communities that co-exist alongside these lie at the heart of The Safari Collection. They depend upon our commitment and support to thrive. Through our Footprint Trust, we ensure that wherever we go, and you go, we step lightly. We are passionate that journeys should make meaningful impacts. Our camps and lodges operate with this sentiment deeply ingrained. As we look to the future, it is our sincere hope that humankind will consider what footprints we leave behind more wisely and choose travel that counts for both people and the planet.
