WHAT TO DO

MASAI MARA HOLIDAY

A Masai Mara holiday offers up a whole range of fun activities to suit everyone from the keen game viewer to those who would prefer to relax and enjoy a slower safari pace. Days can start as early or late as you like. Mealtimes and locations will depend on your chosen activity for the day. Whatever your energy levels and interests, we can’t wait to make your stay a memorable one. It is a real delight to spend time with our knowledgeable team whose expertise on the indigenous wildlife and local area are outstanding.

Game drives are undoubtedly the ‘main event’ of any Masai Mara holiday. With our customised safari vehicles, professionally trained guides and the diverse array of wildlife on offer, you won’t be disappointed. Throw in a delicious wilderness bush breakfast cooked to order and spectacular sundowners on the savannah and there really is nowhere else in the world you’d rather be. Photography enthusiasts can stay out as long they like to capture the perfect wildlife shots, although first-light and the golden evening sunlight can give stunning results. Picnic lunches are available upon request. Our guides are there to tailor make your perfect days depending on your particular wildlife interests. For a spectacular bird’s eye game-viewing experience we can also arrange hot air balloon safaris. A Masai Mara holiday doesn’t stop at game drives. Stretch your legs with a guided nature and birding walk around camp or play volleyball in the dry riverbed. We also have a small gym for your use at any time. Spa treatments with our expert therapist are a delightful way to unwind in between game drives.

Every day at Sala’s Camp is a unique and unforgettable experience.

SAFARI ZEN

If you’re looking for a healing escape, then a Masai Mara holiday provides the perfect opportunity to disconnect from the distractions of modern technology and reconnect to nature. Sala’s Camp immerses you in the wilderness, soothing your soul and calming your mind. Each of our rooms invites you to embrace the serenity of nature. The large wooden decks set against the backdrop of birdsong, greenery and rolling hills, make ideal spaces in which to practice yoga, meditation, art or reading. They are also lovely spots in which to indulge in a pampering treatment from our spa therapist. Along with our fresh and nutritious cuisine, much of which is grown in our very own kitchen garden, you’ll find it easy to nourish both body and soul at Sala’s Camp.

SALA’S FOOTPRINT

Want to find out about the world’s most trafficked mammal? At Sala’s Camp we have a resident research team from The Pangolin Project who are carrying out vital conservation work on one of the world’s most threatened creatures: the pangolin. A Masai Mara holiday can be the perfect opportunity to learn more about this fascinating creature. Let one of our team know if you’re interested in discovering more about this conservation initiative or if you’d like us to arrange a visit with the pangolin team.

Not only is your Masai Mara holiday making magical memories for you and your loved ones, but it is also making a positive impact on people and wildlife in Kenya. At each of The Safari Collection properties, we try to make a difference to the communities and wildlife living nearby. Therefore, Sala’s Camp supports a range of conservation and community initiatives in the area. These include The Pangolin Project, the Mara Rhino Rangers and the Mara Predator Conservation Programme. Each initiative is carrying out vital work to protect vulnerable species from extinction. We also help fund dental and eye clinics in nearby Maasai communities to provide life-changing treatments to those in need. Visit Sala’s Camp Footprint page to discover more about how your stay helps make a positive impact. You might also like to visit Our Footprint to see the impact that all our properties and generous donors have made on Kenya’s wild landscapes, its wildlife and its people.
