A WEEK OF WILD ADVENTURE

This is a week for rediscovering your soul in the Kenyan wilderness. You’ll fly to the highlands of northern Kenya, see the indigenous animals such as rhinoceros, relax in luxury tented camps and if you wish, take part in all manner of outdoor activities from trekking to horse riding, even fly-camping deep in the bush. Then you’ll go to Kenya’s world-famous Maasai Mara and take part in spectacular game drives before spending your last night in the legendary Giraffe Manor. A wonderful introduction to wild Kenya.

You feel privileged to be a small part in helping to fund these much needed- sanctuaries. And yes. I ticked off the big five game animals from my safari must-see agenda, as well as truly ticking off an item on my bucket list. The only hitch in this once-in-a-lifetime trip? I have already booked to go back.

WHEN TO GO

Kenya is an excellent year round destination. But during November, April and May it can get wet in the Mara. January to March and late June through to October is when it is dry, and animals tend to congregate around permanent water sources. During the wet season (March through to May and from October to December), the animals disperse across the area and are harder to find. Even so the less travelled green season has many advantages such as dramatic photogenic skies, rejuvenated landscapes and this is time when many animals give birth to their young.
