This trip is an amazing chance to visit a country that few tourists see – the Congo. You will start your adventure in Virunga National Park in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, on the border of Uganda and Rwanda. Virunga is Africa’s oldest national park and is also the continent’s most biologically diverse protected area. The park’s 7800 km² includes forests, savannahs, lava plains, swamps, erosion valleys, active volcanoes and the glaciated peaks of the Rwenzori mountains. This relatively undiscovered gem, is home to about a quarter of the world’s critically endangered mountain gorillas. Trekking through this vast and beautiful forest to meet the gorillas or climb one of the many volcanoes will suit all of those with an unquenchable thirst for the next chapter in their African adventure. After this epic trip into the Congo, you will fly to the highlands of northern Kenya, to see more endangered species such as black and white rhino at Solio and the Grevy Zebra at Sasaab. There is lots do from game drives, walks, horse riding to fly-camping in the wilderness. Finally, you will return to Nairobi and unwind at the iconic Giraffe Manor.
