STAY AT Sasaab
GETTING THERE Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Wilson Airport, a short journey which takes you along the edge of Nairobi National Park. From here, catch your scheduled Safarilink flight to Sasaab Airstrip, where you will be collected and enjoy a short game drive to the lodge.
EXPERIENCE Sasaab oozes safari zen and provides the ultimate setting for deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Spacious, light and open plan, the lodge’s spectacular wild outlook is inspirational and grounding. Guests will find a myriad of activities, excursions and experiences to suit all interests and energy levels. Each day, your professional yoga and health coach, Oriane, will be on hand to help you strengthen, stretch, invigorate and detoxify. Activities include yoga with breath-taking views, fitness and stretching routines, guided nature walks and/or jogging with Samburu warriors and guided meditation and relaxation sessions. Not forgetting evening walks to the most spectacular sunset spot on ‘Sundowner Rock’.
When not on your mat, enjoy nutritious food prepared with ingredients picked fresh from the organic veggie garden, cooling dips in the infinity pool, lap pool or your private plunge pool and pampering treatments in one of the two spa rooms. Sasaab has a well-equipped outdoor gym with wonderful views for use whenever you wish. There will be plenty of time for game drives around Westgate Conservancy and Samburu National Reserve, where you can spot endemic northern species, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and Beisa oryx.
On day 2 or 3, there’s the option of hiking to the top of Ololokwe, a sacred Samburu Mountain. This takes a full day and is an invigorating, challenging and rewarding experience. The stunning wild beauty and vast panoramas upon reaching the top are something to behold. For the adventure-hungry amongst you, this can be combined with fly camping for a night of sleeping under the stars in the wilderness.
Sasaab also has camels to ride, quadbikes for exploring Westgate Conservancy and incredible helicopter excursions to Kenya’s remote north (please pre-book the helicopter experience to avoid disappointment). Don’t miss exploring the cultural heritage of the Samburu through various excursions on offer and the 4C Centre, which houses an immersive exhibition on local culture and geology.
