THE GIFT OF SONG

Stockings are dangling from the mantlepiece, the tree has been decorated and a fire is crackling in the hearth at Giraffe Manor, which can only mean one thing… Christmas is coming! The air is alive with excited chatter as our team prepare to sing about a land close to their hearts; Kenya.

Mcheza kwao hutuzwa.
A person who dances at home is rewarded.
~ Swahili proverb

This Christmas, we wanted to use the power of song to bring together friends, family, past and future guests, however far away from one another we may be. So, with a little help from soloist Edna Ratemo, our very own team sang their hearts out. And, as it turns out, we have quite the in-house choir! Enjoy our festive version of ‘My Land is Kenya’

Everyone was elated and full of festive cheer after recording the song. Music is a powerful elevator.

After a year in which conservation has been put under strain and wildlife and wilderness areas have been at greater risk, the song’s message feels more poignant than ever. 35,402 km² of forests, 60 national parks and reserves, 32,000 different plants and animal species, 133 unique species; Kenya is a precious land worth protecting.

Wild and free, Kenya really does stay in your heart. For those of you yet to be intoxicated by its spell, we hope to welcome you soon.

My land is Kenya, right from your highlands to the sea.

You’ll always stay with me here in my heart.

Merry Christmas from Kenya and everyone at
